Miss Gail's Mercantile is a woman and service-disabled-veteran owned small business passionate about providing unique historical products. With a focus on serving California Gold Rush, Civil War, and Old West Living History enthusiasts, we aim to offer an authentic and immersive experience through our merchandise.
Gail Climer has been a living historian for 30+ years. A lifelong history student Gail began her journey as a member of Civil War Re-Enactment Groups in California. After meeting and marrying her husband Jack in 2002 and moving to the greater Sacramento area both became members of Old Sacramento Living History Program. The history of Sacramento during its founding and during the California Gold Rush delights thousands of visitors from throughout the world.
Jack and Gail have become docents for the Marshal Gold Discovery State Historic Park in Coloma, California (where the gold was discovered and the world changed overnight) and love teaching our history to locals and visitors on the actual site of the discovery of gold. As ordained chaplains both also enjoy joining couples in marriage on the grounds or in the old camp church on the grounds of this beautiful California State Park.
Gail and Jack continue their activities as members of Old West Legends, a group portraying historical wild west characters and activities. Jack excels as an oily Faro dealer while Gail serves as his saloon gal assistant. Both also portray other appropriate characters.
